Abstract

522,402. Photo-electric photometers. TAYLOR, A. M., and ALLDAY, N. Dec. 8, 1938, No. 35793. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (iii)] An instrument for measuring the intensity of ultra-violet radiation comprises in combination a filter a transparent only or mainly to ultra-violet radiation, a fluorescent body b arranged to receive radiation transmitted by the filter a, another filter c transparent only or mainly to visible radiation and arranged to receive radiation from the fluorescent body b, and a photo-electric cell d arranged to receive radiation transmitted bv the second filter and adapted to be connected to any measuring device such as a micro-ammeter e having a pointer h visible through a window i. As shown in Fig. 2, the first filter a forms an inclined window in the wall of a casing f, the fluorescent body b is horizontal at the base of the casing, and the filter c and cell d are vertical in the casing. In a modification, Fig. 1 (not shown), the parts a, b, c, d, are all placed one against the other. Specifications 348,109 and 500,696 are referred to.
