Abstract

321,003. Harden, J. Sept. 4, 1928. Metallic-vapour apparatus.-A mercury-vapour lamp is provided with an auxiliary electrode to which is applied an E.M.F. out of phase with that of the main lighting current, so that there is always sufficient E.M.F. to maintain the arc. The main electrodes q<1>, q<2> of the lamp Q are connected to the supply terminals M, N through an adjustable resistance R. Across the terminals M, N are also connected the primary P of a transformer T and a choke L. The auxiliary electrodes q<3> is connected to the electrode g<1> through the secondary S of the transformer T. Specifications 14148/04, 16256/04, and 6552/05 are referred to. Reference has been directed to the Comptroller to Specifications 14175/03, 8297/04 and 18987/04..
