319,818. Parsons, Sir C. A., Cook, S. S., and Douglas, L. M. June 28, 1928. Combined double beat and piston valves. -A valve device particularly applicable for controlling the flow of steam in marine turbine installations has interconnected double beat and piston valves controlling the main inlet and outlet and a leakage outlet so arranged that the leakage outlet is only open when the main inlet and outlet are closed. The double-beat inlet valve has the beats a, b provided with cylindrical extensions a<1>, b<1> and is carried by a screw actuated spindle d which is extended above the double beat valve to support the tubular piston valve t<1>. The valve t' controls the main outlet ports s which lead to an annular chamber o tapering towards the outlet r and leakage ports n leading to an annular chamber k connected by an outlet m to the condenser or elsewhere. The valve t<1> may work in a ported liner, and packing rings may be provided in the valve member or seat. 'The end of the member t<1> may work in a ported liner, and packing rings may be provided in the valve member or seat. The end of the member t<1> may contact with a flexible sealing ring to give a final closure.
