Abstract

319,217. Brion, G. G. A., and Krutzsch, A. J. Sept. 17, 1928, [Convention date]. Gases, treating electrically.-The ionization of gases through which electric discharges are to be passed for gas purification is effected by the application of a potential separate from that which causes the translation of the carriers of the electric charges in the gas and producing a field perpendicular thereto. The ionization may be produced by an alternating current of high voltage supplied to electrodes i and the current effecting the translation or the working current bv a low direct electromotive force supplied to plate electrodes p. The ionizing electrodes i need not be bare but may be coated with insulating material as shown at e. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) the lower electrode when used as the separating electrode may be in the form of a screen through which the dust falls into receptacles. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
