Abstract
528,815. Electrical precipitation apparatus. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and DONNELLY, W. May 15, 1939, No. 14484. [Class 39 (i)] The high tension components of the transforming and rectifying equipment are grouped together in a compartment, usually oil-filled, mounted on a gastight partition dividing it from the treater chamber. As shown, the gas-treating chamber 2, with the electrode system, has a gas tight closure 5 through which passes the insulator 3 carrying the lead to the high-tension electrodes 4. A compartment 1, which is preferably oil-filled, contains the step-up transformer 7, plate rectifiers 8, condensers 9, and damping resistances 10a, 10b. One of the rectifiers is earthed, and the other is connected to the high-tension lead through the resistance 10b. The low-tension leads are passed into the compartment 1, through bushings 12, and may include an adjustable auto-transformer 13, ammeter 14 and voltmeter 15. A switch 17 may be provided on the wall of the chamber 2 for earthing the electrodes 4.
