Abstract
316,975. Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken. Aug. 7, 1928, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Holders.-In an electric switch lamp-holder, the contacts of the switch are moved towards each other in the direction of the axis of the holder and are separated in a direction normal thereto. As shown in Figs. 1, 3 and 5, the holder comprises an insulating member 10 having supply terminals 11 and 12. The terminal 11 is directly connected to a central contact 22 and the terminal 12 is connected to a contact 13 on the member 10. A contact sleeve 15 into which the lamp screws carries two arms 16, 17 clasping part of the member 10 and carrying a yoke 18. The sleeve 15 is formed with a wide flange 19 fitting into a groove 20 in the holder. A spring 21 bearing on the yoke 18 retains the flange in the groove. When the lamp is screwed in, the yoke turns from the full-line position shown in Fig. 3, to the dotted-line position, the movement being limited by stops 23, 24, 25, 26, and after the lamp has engaged the central contact, the sleeve 15 is moved against the action of the spring until the yoke contacts with contact 13 whereby the sleeve is electrically connected with the terminal 12. The pressure between the contacts depends on the force with which the lamp is inserted. In a modification, Fig. 7, the yoke 30 is of insulating material and carries contacts 31, 32. The supply terminal 11 in this case is connected to a contact strip 33, and the spring 21 is connected to the central terminal of the holder. On screwing the lamp in, contact is established between the strips 33, 31 and 32, 13.
