Abstract

The housing of an electromagnet includes an end cap 23 having an external terminal 33 electrically connected to a conductive pin 35 which engages a conductive socket member 29 which is electrically connected to one end of the winding of the electromagnet. The contactor shown has a contact bridge 45 biased away from fixed contacts 41, 42 mounted on the housing and engaged by the bridge when the plunger armature (not shown) of the electromagnet engages a push-rod 24 slidable in a polepiece 16. The electromagnet has operating and holding windings 25, 26 and the ends of the operating winding 25 are soldered to respective channel portions of terminal sockets 29 retained in projections 28 formed in the end flange 19 of the former 17 of the windings. One end of the holding winding 26 is also connected to one of the sockets 29 and the other end of this winding is soldered to a spring washer 21 in engagement with an end plate 14 held in a conductive housing 11.
