Abstract

1286604 Coil formers for relays TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON 11 Jan 1971 [23 Feb 1970] 1325/71 Heading HlN A coil former for a relay or circuit breaker is formed of monolithic insulating material and has a slot 8 transverse to its core space which extends through its intermediate portion 6 and end plates 4, 5 so that a core member 1 can be inserted transversely therein. The former may be made of resilient material such as nylon with the slot narrower than the core space and core for snap fitting thereof. The former may have a projection 7 located so as to act as a residual plate between the core 1 and the free end of an armature 3. Fig. 1 shows the former with its coil 2, core 1 and armature 3 with contact springs 11 mounted on a former extension 9. The armature 3 is pivoted at 16 and biased by a spring 15 to retain a member 10 by means of a detent on its free end. When the coil is energized to attract the armature 3 the member 10 is released to act as an indicator, permit the contacts 11 to close and insert an arm thereof into a jack 12 to prevent engagement of its contact springs if any attempt is made to insert a plug (not shown) in the jack 12.
