Abstract

316,810. Bunn, C. W. Sept. 29, 1928. Opening tops.-In vehicle roofs of the type in which the movable panel is connected to the fixed part of the roof by two pairs of connecting links so that it may be moved bodily upwardly and either forwardly or rearwardly, locking means disposed within the vehicle is provided for locking the panel in the closed position and the links and. attachment plates form a unitary fitting. The panel 20 is connected to the fixed roof by means of links 10, 11 in the manner shown so that it may close the aperture in the roof or be swung over to rest on the fixed roof and leave the aperture clear. The panel may be locked in both the open and closed positions by means of a clamping nut 26 and stud 25 engaging with one or other of the slots 28 on the links 10, 11. To secure weather tightness, the coacting sides of the panel and the aperture are stepped as shown at 6, Fig. 4, the rear ends of the panel and of the aperture are chamfered as at 5 and channels 21, 22 on the panel take over flanges or ribs 7, 8 of metal, rubber &c. on the rear and front edges of the aperture. The links 10, 11 and the attachment plates 16, 32 form a unitary fitting,
