Abstract

320,242. Flewitt, J. A. Oct. 17, 1928. Opening tops.-In vehicle tops provided with an aperture adapted to be closed by a movable panel connected at each end or side to the fixed top by a pair of links so that the panel may be swung clear of the aperture when desired, the corresponding links at each side or end are connected by a transverse rod or bar the rotation of which about its axis operates the movable panel. The panel or hatch 2 is connected to the roof aperture by two pairs of links 3, 4 connected as shown the rear pair of links 4 being connected by a cross shaft 10 which is rotatable by a handle 12 to move the hatch into open or closed position. The hatch when closed may be locked at the front by a catch 15, 16 engaging a hook 14 at the rear by a bolt 17 entering a recess in the hatch 2. Weather tightness is obtained by means of a metal frame 20 on the hatch having a depending flange 21 which takes over a flange 22 on the roof. A fillet 24 forms with the flange 22 a channel from which water which may have entered escapes through suitable apertures.
