Abstract

316,785. White, H. J., and Smith (Allerton), Ltd. Aug. 14, 1928. Spindle apparatus. - In spinning-machines comprising a driven flyer and a revoluble spindle carried in a lifter rail, particularly those for spinning goat and like hair, a spindle S of small diameter is provided with an abutment S<1> forming a seat for the pirn of bobbin and a collar W is splined thereon and bears against drag washers carried by the lifting rail or the top of the bearing. A suitable spring device C is provided for holding the pirn, and the spindle is carried in ball bearings B<3>, B<5>, Fig. 3, mounted in a member B secured to the lifting-rail by a nut and closed by a cap B<4>.
