Abstract
190,662. Smith, P., and Waterhouse, D. Feb. 11, 1922. Spindle apparatus.- In a flyer spindle in which the flyer is supported in an overhead rail and the thread passes through a non-rotatable guide before entering the spindle, the guide 17 is placed eccentric to the flyer spindle 3, and is carried by a cap 15 mounted on the stationary sleeve 7. The wharl 5 is screwed on to the spindle 3 and is supported by ball bearings 10, 11. The races for the balls 10 are held between a flange 9 on the sleeve 7 and a distance piece 12. The guide 17 is of truncated conical form or is flared towards its lower end, and is arranged so that the edge over which the yarn runs is in alignment with the axis of the spindle, so that the length of thread between the guide and the leg of the flyer remains constant.
