Abstract

257,117. Smith, W. Prince-, and Waterhouse, D. Oct. 12, 1925. Spindle apparatus. - Wharls for flyer spinning and like machines are formed with a downwardly-flaring internal surface which is such that the yarn extending from the poteye to the flyer leg makes no contact therewith. In the arrangement shown, the wharl is provided with a bush 6 which carries the inner race of the ball bearing, the outer race being carried in a bush 10 secured in a rail or in a separate bracket by a cap 12 in which a porcelain or like eye 16 is eccentrically mounted. The flyer is screwed on a depending neck 2 of the wharl, in which the spindle is secured frictionally or otherwise.
