Abstract

304,890. Gull, A. E. Dec. 20. 1927. Spindle apparatus. - In spindle apparatus, particularly for use in spinning artificial silk, of the kind wherein a cap or cup is driven independently of the spindle and is carried by a fixed member through which the spindle passes, the spindle passes freely through a bush 4 in a fixed rail 5 and the cap 8 is carried by a ball bearing the inner race 4<a> of which is fixed on the bush 4. A ring 8a provided with a filament guide 8<b> is freely rotatable on a rim 8<c> on the upper edge of the cap. The cap may be driven at a variable speed, the ring moving relatively thereto if the tension on the filament becomes unduly great.
