Abstract

677,373. Textile spindle arrangements. tensioning devices. COURTAULDS, Ltd., T.M.M. (RESEARCH), Ltd., and WESTALL, A. Dec. 8, 1950 [June 23, 1950], No. 15730?50. Class 120(ii) [Also in Group XXXIV] A spindle mounting for a spinning or analogous machine and particularly adaptable to uptwisting machines includes a bolster 1 having a tubular extension 12 in which is inserted a resilient bush 13 supporting a tube 14 carying bearings 15, 19 for a spindle 16, the bush being located at a point approximately coincident with the mass centre of a yarn package on the spindle. The bearing 19 may be a ball or roller bearing and the footstep bearing 15 may be lubricated through a channel 17 opening into an oil reservoir 18. Spindle 16 may carry sleeves 22, 23 upon which a cop 20 is built. A driving wharve 24 is also mounted on the sleeve 22. Alternatively, the sleeve 22 may itself form a wharve and be provided with a flange having driving lugs for association with a double-flanged bobbin. The bolster 1 is held on its rail 4 by means of a spring 6 and nuts 7, 8. Flexible washers 5 may also be provided, either above or on both sides of the rail 4.
