Abstract

315,852. Schneider et Cie. July 20, 1928, [Convention date]. Projectile fuzes.-The flash passage k of a supersensitive percussion fuze a is provided with an obturator bolt c of the type dislodged by a small explosive charge a short time after the discharge of the projectile from a gun. According to the invention, the bolt-expelling charge j, which is ignited by a short time fuze h fired by the set back of a striker e onto a percussion cap f, is arranged in a passage separate from and having no communication with the passage k. The explosion of the charge j acts on a head c<2> on the bolt c either directly or through a plug d, which may be separate from or integral with the bolt head. The bolt c is normally held in the safe position by a shear wire m; and in that position, ducts c<4>, c<3> in the bolt vent out any premature explosion of the percussion fuze a. The time fuze h is vented off by a lateral duct i<1>.
