Chemicals.-The alkaline charge for use in the production of foam consists of a mixture of sodium-bicarbonate and sodium sulphite or sodium meta-bisulphite, preferably in equal proportions. The acid solution for use with this mixture may be one containing 10 per cent of alum and 1 per cent of sulphuric acid or of oxalic or tartaric acid. To the acid solution is added a liquid or solid foaming agent such as glue, gluecose, liquorice, or soap.
