Abstract

Lantern screens. - A reflecting plate 5 shaped to conform with the interior of the reflector 4 is pivoted on vertical pintles 6 at the front of the lamp and may be turned into the position shown dotted at 5a to diminish the forwardlydirected beam and deflect. light towards the curb. The plate is shaped at 7 to clear the bulb 8 and is retained in the central position by a spring 9 holding an armature 11 fixed to the lower pintle against a stop 12. Electromagnets 13 coact with the armature to turn the plate into the position 5a.
