Abstract

312,115. Headley, F. H. Feb. 20, 1928. Pivoting adjustments ; attaching hinge members to articles adjustably.-In a seat an upright arm g, carrying a pivoted back rest h, is slidably and pivotally mounted upon the seat frame, by a clamp arrangement consisting of a bifurcated member b, rigidly secured to the frame, having one limb formed with serrations c, a co-operating rotatable serrated element f having a groove &c. to slidably receive the arm g and a handoperable clamping screw i which abuts against or passes through the arm. In the construction shown the serrated element f is formed with a spigot f<2> rotatably received in a socket c<1> formed in the serrated limb of the member b, and the screw i engaging a tapped hole in the other limb and abutting against the arm g. A spring j is interposed between the serrated members. In a modification, the screw i passes through the arm g and both limbs of the member b.
