Abstract

823,209. Seats; bracket tables. GARLAND, W. C., and GARLAND, J. Feb. 6, 1956 [Sept. 9, 1955], No. 25806/55. Classes 52(2), 52(3) and 52(5) [Also in Group XXV] A hinge fitting for connecting a movable part to a fixed part of furniture, comprises a socket 11, Fig. 1, with side wings 12 having holes for screws for attaching it to the fixed part and lugs 14 supporting a pivot pin 15, and a bar 16 slotted to receive the pin and adapted to be inserted in the socket or withdrawn therefrom for pivotal movement, the end of the bar being screw threaded for attachment to the movable part. In Fig. 12 the socket has a number of recesses 27 radial to the hinge pin which can be engaged by an extension 28 on the bar to hold the latter in a number' of different positions. The construction of Fig. 1, is employed to hinge the sides or arm rests to a chair and to hinge a flap to a table top or the back of a car seat.
