Abstract

935,969. Adjustable back rests. A. ARENSON Ltd. Aug. 1, 1962 [Nov. 10, 1961], No. 40370/61. Class 52 (2). A chair includes a back rest 4 which is vertically and angularly adjustable by adjusting means which comprise a pair of laterally spaced slotted links 6 mounted on the back rest 4 for pivotal movement in a vertical plane about vertically spaced horizontal fulcrum points 2, the links 6 converging rearwardly towards a back rest support 10 to which they are connected by a pin 12, a bifurcated bearing member 11 and saddle clamping members 15. The vertical and angular adjustments are made by pivoting the members 15 about the pin 12 and sliding the links 6 along the members 15, then a looking knob 5 secured to the pin 12 is tightened so that the clamping members 15 frictionally engage the links 6 and teeth 16, 17 on the members 15, 11 respectively, interengage to clamp the head rest in position.
