Abstract

555,632. Seats. HAYES, W. T. July 28, 1942, No. 10539. [Class 52 (ii)] A back rest 4, which may consist of a hollow pressed steel pillar, is adjustable angularly and vertically between cheeks 3 rigid with the seat frame 1 by a clamping bolt 9 passing through arcuate slots 11 in the cheeks and through a slot 5 in the pillar, another pin 6 fixed in the cheeks passing through the pillar to form the pivot for angular adjustment. Between the pillar and the cheeks are arms 13, slotted in correspondence with the slots 11, and washers 15, and the parts are secured in adjusted position by tightening a hand nut 12. The pillar may be of parallel bar form.
