Abstract
311,600. Malee, A., and Brown, J. July 23, 1928. Buffer stops, for use on inclines, comprise a cantilever frame and stop-pawl supported by overhead cross-girders. The pawl R is pivoted at N<1> and pinned at 0 to the frame G which is pivoted at N<2> between girders P<1> carried by crossgirders P<2>. The frame G is connected by a rope E with a lever B which is held up by a support A under the control of an attendant. When support A is removed, frame G swings on its pivot N<2> and engages a buffer H carried by the girders P<1>. The pawl R then engages the front of the wagon while a leg M on the pawl prevents tipping of the wagon. To release the wagon, pin 0 is removed by hand so as to allow the pawl R to swing about its pivot N<1>.
