Abstract
643,972. Elevated railways. JOIN, J. F. Feb. 13, 1946, No. 4470. Convention date, July 24, 1942. [Class 104 (ii)] [Also in Group XV] A circular track system with cars moving in one direction on the track, but adapted to be diverted to an upper track extending for nearly the full circle, has the entry and leaving points for the upper track respectively set manually and automatically by the weight of the cars. The arrangement described is an amusement device with cars supported by radial arms 25, Fig. 3, from a centre point and having wheels moving on a single-rail track (lower track 1 or upper track 2). The entry points rail 5, Fig. 4, is hinged at 3 to the upper track 2 and has a slipper 14 engaging a groove 15 to the lower track 1. A link 7 connects the point to a counter-weighted lever 11 pivoted at 12 and operated by a control rod 16. The exit points rail 6, Fig. 7, is hinged at 4 to the upper track 2 and has a slipper 26 engaging a groove 19 in the lower track 1. The exit points rail 6 is connected by a linkage with counter-weight 23 to a treadle 6<1> hinged at 41 to track 2 and engaged by the wheels of the cars, so that the point is closed automatically and held in position until the cars have left track 2.
