Catches, automatic; stud-and-socket fastenings.-A fastening for the folding hoods of motor vehicles comprises a plate F secured to the front rail G of the hood H and carrying a lug F<1> with wedge end F<2> engaging a spring-pressed catch A pivoted at D in a casing C secured to the top rail I of the front screen J. The lower walls of the end F<2> are curved, and a stop E is provided for the catch A. The spring B may be helical or flat.
