Creel arrangements; thread-guides ; tensionarrangements; moistening and treating yarns in winding machines.-In winding a number of yarns from packages 4. Fig. 1, as a single end of parallel yarns on to a package 15 the individual yarns A are caused to follow substantially similar paths whereby equal tension is maintained between all the yarns. The bobbins 4 are supported on spindles 3 arranged on the circumference of a plate 1. The yarns A are led through guide members 7 and guide holes 9 in a dished plate 8, and pass thence between a pair of tensioning discs or washers 11, along the spindle 10, Fig. 3, over guide-rods 11<a> to the package 15. The washers 11 are preferably of felt or like material and may carry a liquid for lubricating, softening or conditioning the yarns. The invention may be applied to the winding of silk, cotton or reconstituted cellulose, but is stated to be particularly suitable for winding yarns of organic cellulose derivatives.
