Cores, covering by winding.-In machines for twisting or for doubling yarn or for covering yarn, thread or the like, with, for example, artificial silk, the flyer a and delivery bobbin g are mounted independently of each other, so that the bobbin may be mounted on a hinged support g<2> adapted to be turned down for doffing, piecing or other operation, and the material is looped round a roller i and is wound on a carrier j such as that described in Specification 171,215, [Class 120 (ii), Spinning, twisting, &c.], driven by a roller k. The support g<2> is held in operative position by an adjustable pivoted arm. The bobbin is carried on a hollow spindle, through which the core yarn passes when covering. The flyer is driven by a belt from a tin roller t and is provided with brake drum Cx, Fig. 2, which is braked by a weighted lever h normally held in the inoperative position by a catch h<3>. The Provisional Specification describes an arrangement of two rollers, one positively driven and the other rotated by the yarn, the yarn being suitably traversed and wound around them in the form of a hank.
