Abstract

299,860. Durand, M. P. Nov. 3, 1927, [Convention date]. Spindle apparatus; stopmotions; spindle - driving apparatus. - In mechanism for twisting y a r n s or threads of the kind wherein the yarn in being withdrawn from a centrally disposed yarn supply forms a loop therearound, the bobbin 1 carrying the yarn is provided with a bar 8 of magnetic material arranged between the poles of a magnet 9 if the bobbin is to be maintained stationary, or, if the bobbin is to rotate in an opposite direction from that of the flyer tube 4, the bar 8 is formed as a rotor and the magnet 9 as an inductor constituting a rotary field. The magnet may be arranged so as to fall into the position 9<1> if, for example by reason of the tangling of the yarn, the tube 4 rotates the bobbin and the bar 8, one limb of the magnet thereupon moving a bell-crank lever 10 and applying a brake to the driving-pulley 13 of the tube.
