Abstract

300,484. Durand, M. P. April 27, 1928, [Convention date]. Addition to 299,860. Spindle apparatus; stopmotions.-In the arrangement described in the parent Specification, wherein a bar of magnetic material carried by a supply bobbin is mounted between the arms of a magnet so as to hold the bobbin from rotation as the yarn is withdrawn therefrom in a loop by a rotating flyer, or to release the magnet to operate a brake to stop the flyer tube if the bobbin rotates, the bar 8 of magnetic material is mounted as shown in relation to the magnet 9 and its ends are of hemispherical shape with centre at the point of oscillation 25 of the bobbin 1 so that the air gap is unaffected by the oscillation of the bobbin. The bobbin is carried by a tube 24 on the end of the rotary flyer tube 4 in a hemispherical bearing, and the tube 4 is provided with an oil chamber 26. The flyer arm 6 is preferably formed of insulating material such as vulcanized fibre. If for any reason the bobbin and the bar 8 rotate, the magnet is released and applies a brake 12 to the driving-pulley 13 of the flyer tube, as in the arrangement described in the parent Specification, and also releases the tension pulley of the driving-cord of the tube and disconnects the delivery rollers which draw the yarn from the bobbin. To ensure the action of the magnet when it is released, a bar 23 of magnetic material is provided.
