Yarns, curling.-Yarns to be curled are led from a bobbin 12 or cheese, which is mounted on a sleeve loose upon a rotary spindle 2, through guide-eyes and guide-channels in a casing 7 secured to the spindle, and through the hollow upper part of the spindle to drawrollers and a winding-on bobbin. After setting, the curled or twisted yarn is rewound on a bobbin in cheese form and again mounted on the spindle, which is then rotated in the opposite direction and the ends are divided as usual and wound upon a beam. The bobbins are rotated by friction from the casing and by the pull on the yarn, and thus rotate slightly faster or slower than the casing, according to the direction of unwinding. Any number of spindles may be used, and may be arranged in single or double rows. The spindles are preferably driven by helical gears 5, which are enclosed in an oil-chamber. Any suitable stop-motion may be employed.
