Abstract
310,307. Fitzgerald, J. M. Jan., 23, 1928. Walls.-Reinforced-concrete cribbing for wall foundations consists of courses of headers 10 and stretchers 13 forming vertical walls. Each header is substantially rectangular in section, and is formed at one or both ends with T-shaped ends 11, which extend below the bottom surface of the header, and thus form spacers 12. The stretchers are similar, but the ends are formed as kerfs 14 for receiving the parts 11. Some of the stretchers are larger than others, as shown, to enable break-joint constructions to be formed. Spacers 15 are formed on the kerfs 14, and spacers 16 may be formed between them. The undersides of the stretchers are formed with tapering curtains 17, forming at their lower edges relatively narrow openings 19. These parts are proportioned so that the angle of repose of the material filling the cribbing, as indicated by the line 21, Fig. 6, touches the edges 22, 23. The curtains 17 may, however, be set on the inner sides of the cribbing, and may be set on the upper faces of the stretchers.
