Abstract

Vehicle doors, operating; operating doors by link mechanism. - Door-operating gear of road vehicles comprises links a, b jointed together by a pivot c formed at one end with a handle p, one of the links having teeth j with which are adapted to engage teeth k on a sleeve m slidably mounted upon the pivot c, the locking-teeth in the sleeve being spring-pressed into engagement with the teeth on the link, and a lever s for moving the teeth out of engagement when it is desired to move the links into another position of adjustment. As shown, the link a is pivotally connected to the dashboard e, and the .link b is pivotally connected to the outer leaf h of the folding door of the vehicle, the pin c connecting the links being secured to the link a. A spring r mounted upon the pin c is housed in the handle p and bears against the upper end of the sleeve m. When the handle and lever s are grasped, the sleeve is retracted through the link t against the action of the spring r and the door may then be opened or closed. One or both of the links may be provided with a telescoping part provided with a spring 5, as shown in Fig. 4.
