Abstract

255,593. Fone, R. F. May 28, 1925. Operating vehicle doors from drivers' seats.- In operating appliances for the doors of " oneman " omnibuses the jointed rods 7, 8 are connected together by a pivot 15 to which is fitted a co-axial handle provided with a spring-controlled plunger connected to looking mechanism for normally securing the joint in a desired position, the locking mechanism of the joint being released when the plunger is depressed. The arms 7, 8 are hingedly secured to the vehicle dash-board and the entrance door respectively and the handle 14 contains a spring-pressed plunger 16 secured to a plate 17 provided with pins 18 or engaging holes in the knuckles of the joint. When the plunger is depressed sufficiently the joint is unlocked and the rods may then be folded to open the door by pulling the handle. The holes 14<a> are drilled through the third and fourth knuckles of the joint and the pins 18 may engage these holes when the sets of holes are in alignment.
