Abstract
308,774. Baer, A. March 28, 1928, [Convention date]. Addition to 295,537, Valves.-In the rotary valve described in the parent Specification, having a packing-piece 11 bearing against the underside of the valve 6 and sealed by a diaphragm 12, access of hot gases to the diaphragm is prevented by a packing-ring 24 fitted to the clamping-ring 13, and the valve is maintained cool by the circulation of fluid there. through. The diaphragm 12 is relieved of the weight of the packing-piece 11 by means of levers 26 pressed by springs 28. The valve trunnion 31 is coupled at 41 to a rotary pump 38. 39 which draws cooling-fluid from the cylinder jackets by passages 36, 37 and discharges it through the cavity 30 in the valve, and out by the other trunnion 32 to the outlet 35. The chambers 33, 34 through which the cooling-fluid passes are sealed by diaphragms 42, 43 pressed by springs 44, 45 against the ends of the trunnions.
