Abstract

232,158. Rigaud, L. R. April 14, 1924, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Valves.-Rotary valves are cooled by the circulation of the air or gas charges through passages in the valve and cylinder head before entering the combustion chamber; or by circulation of air through such passages by means of fans &c. independently of the charge. The arrows in Fig. 2 indicate the flow of the charge from the inlet 13 through ports 21, passages 19 formed within the walls of the valve 1, ports 20, and inlet ports 3 into the combustion chamber. In a modification, the charge circulates through passages in the centre part 7 of the cylinder head before passing through the passages 19 of the valve.
