Abstract
306,343. Westwood, A. E. May 18, 1928. Lever-actuated reciprocating - cylinder pumps; suction reservoirs. - Relates to a pump-operated device for delivering fluid from a con tainer, such as an oil-can, scent-spray &c., in which a lever for operating the pump mechanism is fulcrummed on the delivery spout or or an extension there from. A cap E screwed on a con tainer 5 carries or opposite sides the delivery spout 13 and the pump mechanism which latter comprises a sleeve 15, with a ball valve 17 at its lower end, which slides on a tubular extension 14, fitted with a spring-pressed ball valve 16, when the lever 28 is operated; the sleeve 15 is returned by a spring 19. The lever 28 straddles the spout 13 so as to be floatingly fulcrummed thereon. The finger portion 30 by which the lever 28 is manually actuated is situated in the angle of less than 180‹ between the spout and the body of the container, which is of a size to be gripped by hand. The cap 8 is of brass hot-stamped to form the member 9 to which the spout 13 and tubular extension 14 are brazed. Specification 273,199 is referred to.
