Abstract

311,109. Westwood, A. E. May 18, 1928. Addition to 273,199. Lever-actuated pumps; reciprocating-cylinder pumps; mountings. - The internal pumping mechanism of the oil can described in the parent Specification is applied to liquid containers generally. The mechanism comprises a valved sleeve 12 sliding on a valved tubular member 6 fixed to a cap 5 screwed on the filling hole 4; the cap 5 on the other side carries a swivelling delivery spout 7 to which a flexible hose may be attached. The sleeve 12 is actuated by a pivoted lever 22 and a rod 17 on its upward delivering stroke and is returned by a spring 16 ; the rod 17 has a coned head 20 fitting the hole in the cap 5 through which it passes and is forked at the other end 18 for connection with pins on the sleeve 12. The lever bracket may be integral with the cap 5, or the whole drum cover 3 may be detachable for use with other drums. Specification 229,148 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 273,199.
