Abstract

145,864. Petigor, M. H. March 31, 1919. Dispensing liquids.-In a pump for dispensing soda-water syrups &c., the liquid is contained in a receptacle A in which is placed the pump cylinder 2. The head 8 of the cylinder has an admission opening 12 and a tubular extension 10 to which is secured a tube 18 which is screwed into the cap 19 and communicates with a spout 20 formed integrally with the cap. The piston 13 is formed with a tubular member 15 which works in the tubular extension 10. The bottom of the cylinder is provided with apertures 4, 5, fitted with a non-return valve 6. On the upper end of the piston-rod is screwed a nut 27 having in its upper part semi-cylindrical depressions 28, Fig. 5, which co-operate with similar depressions 30, Fig. 7, in a collar 29 to form cylindrical bearings for lugs 33, Fig. 8, on the operating lever 31 the end of which is formed with a slotted member 40 which works over a pin 39 carried by an arm 38 formed on the cap 19. The piston is returned to the upper end of its stroke by a spring 24 held between a flange 23 at the bottom of a cylindrical bushing 22 in the cap 19 and a collar 25 in a sleeve 26 which works within the bushing 22. The stroke of the piston, and therefore the quantity of liquid delivered, is regulated by adjusting the position of the nut 27 on the pistonrod, the collar 29 being held against the nut 27 by a screwed head 35. On depressing the piston, the valve 6 closes, and liquid is forced from the cylinder out through the spout 20. On releasing the pressure, the piston rises, and liquid enters the cylinder through the valve apertures 4, 5, to be forced out through the spout on the next stroke of the piston.
