305,676. Universelle Cigarettenmaschinen-Fabrik J. C. M³ller & Co. Feb. 10. 1928. [Convention date]. Addilion to 283,479. Machine cutters, grinding in situ.-In a modification of the device described in the parent Specification for sharpening the cutters of cigarette rod machines, the grinding means act in conjunction with setting means which are moved about the same axis as the grinding means and which serve to remove the burrs formed bv the grinders. The cutter 1 is mounted on a disc 2 which is inclined to its shaft 3 so as to give the cutter a longitudinal wobbling movement. A housing 5 which is adjustable on the frame 4 by means of a screwed spindle 7 carries between bushes 33, 34 a worm 31 driven by a splined shaft 32 and connected through gearing 35 - - 38 to a pair of concentric sleeves 14, 15 mounted over a spindle 13. The inner sleeve. 14 carries a disc 18 fitted with members 27 carrying adjustable members 28 in which the spindles 29 of the setting members 19 are freely mounted. The outer sleeve carries a spider 21 carrying adjustable members 22 which are fitted with members 24 providing bearings for the spindles 26 of the grinding discs 17. Thus in operation, the cutter 1 after passing the grinding-discs 17 comes into contact with the setting edges 19 to remove burrs from the back of the edge.
