Abstract

304,800. Brandwood, J., and Brandwood, T. July 28, 1927. Circulating or passing fluids through materials. -To facilitate insertion into and removal from yarn cheeses, perforated dyeing spindles are made expansible by being formed of a number of overlapping arcuate plates 6, 8 connected to the central spindle 13 by spacing links 24 and to a sleeve 15 by links 22. The sleeve 15 is recessed to receive a collar 18 integral with a nut 19 so that by rotation of the nut the sleeve is caused to travel along the spindle 13 for operating the links 22 to expand or contract the arcuate plates. A cap 26 may be secured on a packing ring 28 on the top cheese. Apertures 10 in the base member permit circulation of the dyeing liquid which may be effected as described in Specification 190,760. The various parts may be made or coated with non-corrodible metal or alloy.
