Abstract
Spools or cakes of textile yarns 3, Fig. 2, are slipped, for liquid treatment, on a support 4 such as that described in Specification 427,953, through which is threaded a central stem or rod 8 by which upper and lower discs 6, 7 may be drawn together, as by a nut 9, the lower disc 7 having apertures 12 for the passage of a liquid around the rod 8. The internal diameter <PICT:0452819/IV/1> <PICT:0452819/IV/2> of the cakes is larger than the external diameter of the support. When a series of spools or cakes are to receive treatment, the central support, on which the upper and lower discs 6, 7 are mounted, is in the form of a perforated tube 20, Fig. 3, the upper end of which is terminated by a solid rod 8 of smaller diameter. In this case, the treating liquid passes through the perforations in the tube 20, discs 18 with circular rims 19 being placed between successive spools to prevent the escape of the treating liquor.
