Treating substances with liquids. - Artificial silk &c. wound on bobbins is washed centrifugally by supplying washing liquid to the interior of the bobbin on which the silk is wound. As shown, the bobbin b on which the silk is wound, is perforated and is closed at one end and provided at the other with a coned socket to fit the spindle a; the latter is mounted vertically in a trough d, is rapidly rotated, and is perforated with holes or slots a<1> for the passage of liquid supplied through a pipe a<2>.
