Abstract

<PICT:0394900/IV/1> <PICT:0394900/IV/2> Warp threads are beamed on a hollow perforated core or sleeve 4 fitted over a solid beam 1, and the beam is then removed and replaced by a telescopic tube 8, 10, each member of which is provided with a flange 9, 11, the two flanges being tightened against each other by nuts 13, or by gravity by placing the beam vertically and weighting the upper flange. In the latter case, the upper flange is prevented from being moved upwards by the pressure of the liquid within the beam by means of a pawl and ratchet device 14. The perforated core or sleeve 4 is elastic in the direction of its length and conveniently is made of a coil spring provided with metal or other strip, thread, or web tressed around its successive windings as is described in Specification 289,708, [Class 120 (iii), Yarns &c.].
