Lighting, systems of; ceiling lamps; wall lamps.-The roof or wall is provided with translucent light-diffusing panels 8 above or outside which are trough-shaped reflectors 3, and the source of light 2 is arranged between the roof or wall and the reflectors in such a manner that substantially no direct light passes through the panels. As shown applied to a ceiling the lamps 2 are mounted in hollow trough-shaped beams 1 and the reflectors 3, which have a matt white surface and ventilating holes 11, are supported at their edges 4, 5 by T-members 6. The translucent panels rest upon the members 6, strips 7 carried bv the beams 1, and cross-strips 10. The glass of the panels may have a rippled, mottled or other irregular surface and may be coloured. Lamps of different colours may be provided and lit selectively. The system is stated to be particularly applicable on board ship. Specification 210,856 is referred to.
