303,767. Robinson, E. Y., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. Oct. 8, 1927. Vacuum tubes.-A tubular grid is extended integrally or by the addition of a shielding member of general tubular shape, and the filament-supporting arm or hook extends through a notch or orifice in the extension. As shown, the extension 18 of the grid 16 consists of a piece of wire gauze or of sheet-metal having a notch formed by cutting and bending out a tongue 21. The filament hook 11 extends through the notch and is mounted on a glass bead 13. The grid may be of the kind described in Specification 231,225. In a modification the extension consists of gauze &c. with a gap. In another arrangement, the extension consists of a disc mounted at right-angles to the axis of the grid, and having a hole through which passes a filament-supporting arm or hook with a portion coated with insulating material as described in Specification 285,537.
