Abstract
225,293. Seymour, C., and Hughes, H. G. Aug. 30, 1923. Vacuum tubes.-A support for a thermionic filament consists of a ribbon or wire B connected between the filament A and a lead F, and a helical spring D abutting against an insulating stop C and fastened to the lead F, or to the ribbon B, or to a washer or cap E on the spring. By this means the spring is removed from contact with the filament and does not carry current. The stop may be of silica and may be attached to a grid G or other electrode or the support therefor. The spring may be secured to the lead or ribbon by a pin. The lead may be attached to the washer or may constitute a pin to hold the ribbon in position.
