Abstract

302,986. Renault, M. Dec. 24, 1927, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Catches, automatic; fastenings for boxes. - A fastening for boxes &c. shown as applied to a cigarette case or like flat box with a lid 2 hinged at 3 has a plate 10 slidably mounted on the end wall 4 of the box and guided by headed pins 11. The plate is held in normal position by a spring 12 and has an inward projection 9 engaging a hook 6 on the lid. When the plate is moved against the action of the spring to release the hook, the projection 9 engages a ramp 5 on the lid and so positively opens it. The mechanism is hidden by a cover 14 secured to the plate 10 by rivets 15, the cover externally conforming with the exterior and ornamentation of the box. As shown, fastenings are provided at each end .of the box, simultaneously released by finger and thumb of one hand, the box body being held in the other hand.
