Abstract
301,524. Chaudoir, E. Aug. 3, 1927. Gates.-In the type of collapsable gate in which subsidiary vertical pickets B are secured to the lattice links C, C<1>, C<2> that are pivoted between channelled double main pickets A, the central portions of the distance pieces A<1>, A<2>, A<3> between the two channelled sections of the main pickets are flattened so that, in the collapsed position, the subsidiary pickets lie wholly within the main pickets. The fixed pivots a, a<1>, a<2> and sliding pivots a<3> connecting the lattice links to the main pickets and the fixed pivots b connecting the lattice bars to the subsidiary pickets are also formed with flattened or reduced central portions. The subsidiary pickets are of a length to drop into the channelled track D of the gate when extended and the lower distance pieces A<2> of the main pickets also project into this channel. Some of the upper distance pieces A<3>, beginning with that on the first main picket, are extended upwardly to form bearings for the shafts of the rollers &c. E which run in the upper track F.
