[Also in Group X] A horizontally sliding shutter comprises a number of slats A hingedly connected at their edges by curled portions B and B' as shown in Fig. 2, the joints between the slats being provided at their upper end alternately with rollers R, Fig. 3a, and a guiding bar, the arrangement being such that when the shutter is opened the guiding bars strike a suitably positioned abutment and the slats assume the folded position shown in Fig. 2. The guiding of the slats to the required position is assisted by bolts P and P' which are provided at the lower end of the joints between the slats and engage in a track S ; the bolts P' are shorter than the bolts P and capable of entry into a track G which is raised above the level of the track S, the longer bolts P, however, are unable to enter the raised track and are deflected. The slats may be solid or made of lattice or grid-like members.
