Abstract

203,187. Fraser, H. Sept. 2, 1922. Moving stairways.-A double spiral stairway comprises two series of universally-jointed chain links 1, 1<a> spanned by rods 2 carrying treads 3. Wheels 4, 4a mounted on the rod 2 run on rails 5, 5a and rollers 9, 9<a> on the links bear against side rails 10, 10<a>. The treads are kept horizontal by wheels 6, 6a and tracks 7, 7<a>. Drums 11, 12 transfer the treads from one spiral to the other.
